How I recovered from Post-awesome-holiday-depression in 10 easy steps:

(Or: The last 56 South African photos I'll share with you, probably.)

1.  I realized I needed to give it some time. This severe PAHD condition isn’t something that you just wish away overnight. Trust me; it takes a good 4-6 weeks.

2.  I looked through my thousands of photos, and then for a while I didn’t, and now I can even have them as my screen saver and appreciate their awesomeness.

3.  In my cleverness I timed my return to be the start of spring.  This list would not work had I come back to the start of a long and dark winter.

4.  Ate the South African chocolates that I brought for friends, happened to have in my suitcase.

5.  Drank South African wine.

6.  Shared here about the amazing trips we got to do. Yeah, why do I blog? Free therapy!  Remember me telling you about our Kruger National Park trip or our cultural day trip experience?

7.  Made daily ‘thankful for’ lists in my head and heart.

8.  Started planning summer adventures. Oh yes! This one helps a lot!

9.  Started looking for a house to buy, like grownups or something.

10. MUSHY ALERT! Loved on my handsome husband who’s the reason why I’m here in the first place, remembering that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

99% of these photos were taken with my iphone and edited with the VSCO app.

    1. Thanks Ana! I loved taking them! Was just as much part of the 'therapy' to stitch them all together on pic monkey :)

  2. the photos look awesome - i can definitely see why you got PAHD. and how awesome that you defined that sinking feeling that accompanies the end of every truly awesome vacation? will definitely be stealing this (or adding it to urbandictionary...)

    1. Ha ha I'm glad you'll use it, maybe we can even start a support group for people who suffer from PAHD, I'd be the first to sign up for sure.

  3. I think that since our hoped-for-trip will have us coming back in Winter, to dreariness, I may need to stack my bag with chocolates, since number 4 seems like one that might work in that context ;) :)

    1. Haha, yes Number 4 definitely was instrumental in the process. But you have such yummy chocolate in Germany, much better than the American offerings. I think coming back to Spring helped me because I was so sad coming back not knowing when I'll be able to go visit South Africa again (still a sensitive subject) it might be a few years. So if you can come back to Winter, then just have your next trip back in mind and that might help ;) otherwise... more Inside Story, more Aero, more Woolies Millionaire chocolates for you x

  5. Hi Lanette, I just got home myself today, feeling very jet-lagged now. On on hand, I was happy to go home and see family and friends, on the other, I ask myself why I put myself through this process, the joy of reuniting juxtaposed with the misery of parting. But now that I am back in Belfast, this place feels like home too; it's all very weird and confusing. Love your photos as always, and have an awesome weekend! :)

    1. Thank you! Yeah I totally know that feeling well! Glad you had a safe trip, hope the jetlag gets easier soon. I've realized that too, that I have two places/countries that feel like home now, it's good to focus on that ;D x
